Hero Miles – Fisher House Foundation

The Housing Hour July 17, 2013

Hero Miles – Fisher House Foundation

Special Guest: Chris Scurlock, Director of Charitable Initiatives, Mortgage Investors Group

The Housing Hour discusses Mortgage Investors Group support of our brave wounded men and women in the armed forces and a program that could help them with free airfare! Hero Miles – Fisher House Foundation

The nonprofit Fisher House Foundation administers the “Hero Miles” program in partnership with the Department of Defense in accordance with Public Law 108-375, Section 585, the FY 05 Defense Authorization Act, amended in 2011. Fisher House Foundation uses frequent flyer miles that have been donated by passengers of our airline partners to provide free tickets to support wounded, injured, and ill service members and their families who are undergoing treatment at a military or VA medical center or who are attending authorized events.

There are two categories of eligible recipients:
1. Wounded, injured and ill service members with approved leave may be given a free round trip air for a trip from the medical center to their home or to attend an authorized event if they are not eligible for government funded airfare.

2. Wounded, injured, and ill service members may be given free round trip tickets to enable their family or close friends to visit them while they are undergoing treatment at an authorized medical center.

Support this great program!!
